
On Friday, June 15, 2007, the Governor of Texas signed HB 2833, a law governing the review and analysis of computer based data. Effective September 1, 2007, any company/individual obtaining or furnishing information through the review and analysis of, and the investigation into the content of, computer-based data not available to the public will be considered an investigations company and must be licensed as such. Each such corporation and individual will be subject to the regulations of the Texas Private Security Board. Companies and individuals in non-compliance may be assessed a penalty of up to $10,000 per violation.
